RACEDAY ITINERARY

  • 5:30–7:00 am: Athlete Check-In will be held in the Aquatic Park Maritime Museum (inside the Senior Center, located on the lower level on the water side of the building). You MUST BRING A PHOTO ID to athlete check in.
  • 7:10 am: Pre-Race Announcements will be made in front of the grassy area to the east of the grandstands.
  • 7:15 am: Athlete Parade to the Ferry from Aquatic Park to the Blue & Gold Ferry.
  • 7:45 am: Ferry Disembarks
  • 8:30 am: Race Begins approximately at this time, signaled by the SECOND ferry horn blast (first ferry horn is a one-minute warning)
  • 11:00 am: Informal Awards Ceremony will take place, announcing the winners for all age groups in each division. Final results will be posted on our site and awards will be mailed a few weeks later.
  • Post Race: Swimmers are encouraged to hang out with their friends and family on the grassy area east of the grandstands. It's a great spot to trade post-race "war stories" from the bay and enjoy our spread of snacks, and the view from dry land.

INCENTIVES

  • T-shirt for all participants.
  • Personalized plaques to top three individual finishers, male and female, in 5-year age groups,  for wetsuit, non-wetsuit and physically challenged divisions.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Water temperature is approximately 60 to 62 degrees.
  • Wetsuits are recommended.
  • There is a separate division for swimmers without wetsuits or swim aids (i.e. skin suits, high performance full body swimsuits).
  • Sea kayaks will  provide support during the swim.
  • You will be given a plastic bag to LABEL WITH YOUR RACE NUMBER to take on the ferry. Use this bag to stash your extra items (i.e. warm-ups, shoes, etc.) before starting the swim. Our volunteers will collect these bags and return them to the finish at Aquatic Park, where they will be sorted by race number for pick-up.
