Starting this year, the ENVIRO-VENTURE TRAIL SERIES became a bonafide annual points competition, complete with prizes and all-important bragging rights for the top finishers.
Every
2006 ENVIRO-SPORTS trail run participant was automatically entered in the
Inaugural ENVIRO-VENTURE KING & QUEEN OF THE MOUNTAIN TITLE SERIES. And every runner began racking up points from the first finish line crossed - regardless of how he or she placed! That's right...
If you ran with us this year, you earned points just for finishing - whether you
came in first, last or in the middle of the pack.
Compound points were earned
every time a runner placed top-three in his or her age group. A third place finish, for example,
would net a runner one extra point per mile (i.e. a total of 12.4 points for a 10K distance). Second place earns two extra points per mile and first place gets three extra points per mile.
|
|
New sponsor VASQUE steps
in to sweeten the prize pot!
The team at VASQUE likes what we we're up to with this new points series and thought that our
top 2006 points earners deserved a reward that would renew their passion for the trails
well into the New Year.
And so, King Mike, Queen Anna, and the top-20 runners-up listed here will
each be receiving a new pair of VASQUE trail running shoes!

Because Your Passion
Shouldn't Play Second Fiddle
If you're serious about running trails, it's time to
seriously reconsider your footwear. Sure, the big-name shoe companies have a
handful of trail-specific offerings. But when it comes down to it, the
dollars and cents tally up much steeper on
the side of road-specific models, leaving their trail lines relegated to the
"niche product" category.
The team at VASQUE takes a different
approach. All they do is trail shoes.
VASQUE doesn't make trail shoes. They
breed, incubate, raise and wean them. Then one bittersweet day, when they've
reached maturity, it's time for them to be released into their natural
habitat. The VASQUE
line features approximately 100 styles of high-quality, technologically
functional footwear for outdoor use.
Based in Red Wing, MN, VASQUE is a leading manufacturer of
performance outdoor footwear. The VASQUE line is sold in specialty
outdoor retailers, including REI and EMS. For more information about
VASQUE's
products, visit
www.vasque.com
or call 800-224-4453.
