Alcatraz Sharkfest™ Swim
Race Day Itinerary
- 4:45–6:00 am: Athlete Check-In will be held in the Aquatic Park Maritime Museum
(inside the Senior Center, located on the lower level on the water side of the building). You MUST BRING A PHOTO ID to
athlete check in.
- 6:15 am: Pre-Race Announcements will be made in front of the grassy area to the east of the grandstands.
- 6:25 am: Athlete Parade to the Ferry from Aquatic Park to the Hornblower Ferry at Alcatraz Landing Pier 33.
- 7:05 am: Ferry Disembarks
- 7:45 am: Race Begins approximately at this time, signaled by the SECOND ferry horn blast
(first ferry horn is a one-minute warning)
- 8:30 am: Informal Awards Ceremony will take place, announcing the
winners for all age groups in each division. Final results will be posted on
our site and awards will be mailed a few weeks later.
- Post Race: Swimmers are encouraged to hang out with their friends and family on the grassy area east of the grandstands.
It's a great spot to trade post-race "war stories" from the bay and enjoy our spread of snacks, and the view from dry land.
