Prepare yourself for the 33rd Annual Alcatraz Escape from the Rock™ Duathlon. The course combines the original swim from Alcatraz with an 7 mile run to Fort Point and back to Aquatic Park. You have heard the stories, you’ve seen the movies, you know the infamous inmates, but NOW it’s your turn to make history on the ESCAPE course! As the tourists ferry to the island, you’ll be swimming away as you make the ULTIMATE ESCAPE! The event is limited to 400 participants, so don’t wait to register!

Race Packets
(containing swim cap, run bib number, timing chip, & t-shirt) are picked up on race day morning in the Senior Center which is located on the first floor of the Maritime Museum. Full details on this pick-up will be included in the ENTRANT NEWSLETTER, which will be e-mailed to all paid participants and posted on this web page approximately two to three weeks prior to the event. If you did not submit a valid e-mail address when registering for this event, please notify us at info@envirosports.com.
Parking
Parking is sparse in the Aquatic Park area. We recommend that athletes park at the Ft. Mason lot ($10 all day), the entrance is located at the intersection at Marina Blvd. and Buchanan St.. Just walk along one of the footpaths through Ft. Mason and over the hill to Aquatic Park. (Click here for a Google map location of Fort Mason.)
Aid Stations
There will aid stations at miles 2, 3.5 and 5. Aid will also be available in the transition area.
Course Details
*Wetsuits are allowed, but not mandatory.
*Air temperatures range from the low-60s to mid-70s.
*And last, but not least, absolutely NO AUDIO devices (ipods, mp3, anything with headphones) allowed. You will be disqualified if found or reported wearing any audio device. We want to have a safe race.

Race Day Itinerary

- 5:30-6:30 am Set up Swim Transition Area in Aquatic Park. You will leave your running shoes here. Label a plastic bag with your number in which to stash your wetsuit.
- 6:40 am Pre-race announcements
- 6:50 am Athletes Parade to the Ferry
- 7:30 am Ferry Departs
- 8:10 am Race starts approximately at this time.
- 11:00 am Preliminary race results will be announced at the finish at Aquatic Park. Customized age-group award plaques will be printed and mailed a few weeks after the event, so you need not be present to get your award.
